Action-Packed Fall Wine Festival Weekend Ahead

Fall Wine Weekend

We are just about to enter the third weekend of the 2011 Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival. The past two weekends have been amazing and despite a little bit of rain last Saturday, we have seen some of the best weather of the year. Wineries have been buzzing with activity as Nova Scotia wine enthusiast get out and enjoy the festivities. This weekend will be no exception.

The Winery Association of Nova Scotia and Taste of Nova Scotia are pleased to present the Fall Celebration Dinner, the “kick-off’ event for the sixth edition of the Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival.

Join the wineries at the new Wolfville Farmers’ Market building to launch this year’s festival with a wonderful evening of paired wine selected by noted sommelier Amy Savoury and food prepared by a team of Taste of Nova Scotia chefs led by Jason Lynch, Executive Chef of Le Caveau Restaurant. Chef Alan Crosby (White Point Beach Resort), Chef Don Walker (Five Fishermen) and Gabriel Crocker (Tempest Restaurant) will be working together with chef Jason Lynch to prepare a spectacular six-course dinner paired with eight of our local wines.

Meet our winemakers and chefs and learn about our award-winning wineries and local cuisine. The Celebration Dinner will also feature a presentation to recognize the winners of the 2011 Atlantic Canada Wine Awards.

Winery Events to Please Every Palate

Things are really starting to shape up for 6th Fall Wine Festival. One of the best parts about the festival is all of the amazing events taking place at wineries throughout the province. This year’s Fall Wine Festival is no exception.

Winery events range from traditional charity grape stomps (Sainte-Famille Wines, Gaspereau Vineyards and Jost Vineyard) to a series of high end dinners at Luckett Vineyards. If enjoy enjoy a hands on approach, why not visit visit Lunenburg County Winery for a u-pick or Petite Riviere Vineyards to take part in the grape harvest. Get out and meet some of our province’s winemakers at events such Champagne Wishes & Seafood Dreams, Wine in the Vines or the Harvest Wine Festival.

2011 Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival

IMG_9355This year’s Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival will run from September 15 to October 16 and will include over 45 events across the province. Be prepared to eat and drink your way around Nova Scotia, meet our talented winemakers and chefs and indulge in our local cuisine.

Our 2011 festival promises to be the best yet – and we want you to be a part of it! Start planning your wine tour with Go North Tours, sign up for a cooking class or start training for grape stomping. Get your tastebuds ready by picking up a bottle of Nova Scotia’s finest at a winery, your local NSLC, Bishop’s Cellar or Harvest Wines.
